One of the most uncharted aspects of thoroughbred and quarter horse handicapping is the realm of form cycle analysis. In this instance, the term "cycle" refers to patterns of ups and downs in the trajectory of a horse's career. This facet of the handicapping equation can be most perplexing to many a horseplayer. Horses can go in and out of form, round into peak condition, "bounce" off of peak efforts and improve dramatically seemingly without any logical reason. A handicapper using an effective method of predicting form cycle patterns can stay one step ahead of the crowd and get on a horse's bandwagon at
the right time, while jumping off when the horse is over bet. Easily said, but difficult to put into practice by oneself.....}
